Introduction

The 11th international Taiji festival and competition, one of the biggest Tai Chi competition in the world will be held in the city of Han Dan, the home town of Yang and Woo style Taiji. There were over 4000 enthusiasts and athletes from all over the world attended in previous competitions.

As well as demonstrations of Tai Chi Kung Fu from enthusiasts in China, it will also be attended by some of the world most famous masters, in various styles fo Taiji. Competition (all styles) consists of hand forms, weapons, pushing hands.

Handan is the home town of Yang Style Tai Chi and Woo Style Tai Chi Founder, the Great Yang Lu Chan, and Woo Yu Xiang. It is also one of the oldest city in the north of China, which is filled with culture and history.

The festival and competition consists of various styles of Taiji (Chen, Yang, Wu, Woo and Sun and many other smaller styles of Taiji), therefore enthusiasts of all level and disciplines are welcome to participate.

We will be meeting Tai Chi enthusiasts from different part of the world, sharing experiences and make friends with enthusiasts in China. Participants have the option of competing in the competition or just simply come along as spectators, it will also be an eye opener for participants since the competition is anticipated to have over 3000 contestants of various levels.

There will be lot of demonstrations and exchanges as well as sightseeing opportunities. It is definitely a great opportunity to participate such an amazing event and at the same time experience first hand the culture, history and beauty of this great civilisation. It is truly an event for any Tai Chi practitioners, enthusiasts of all levels their friend and families.

This is also a unique opportunity for Taiji enthusiasts to visit the home of these two great Tai Chi Masters, experience and be inspired by the spirit of Taiji. During the five days event, Participant can enter Tai Chi hand and weapon forms as well as push hand competitions. Participant will also have the opportunity to meet and exchange learning experience with athletes from China and other parts of the world.

Master Faye Yip, member of the BCCMA, executive member and technical panel of the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain, is organising a team of Tai Chi enthusiasts from the UK to attend is unique festival. The aim of this trip is to establish friendship, promote the UK Tai Chi community in the world Taiji stage and at the same time create an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts in the UK to see and feel Taiji at a global level.

This is event is going to be jam packed with exciting activities and filled with some of the world's top athletes, teachers and masters. It will definitely be one of the most fantastic Tai Chi event any enthusiasts will ever attend.

Who can attend

The aim of the festival and competition is to bring together all Taiji enthusiasts from all over the world, whether they are new to the art or experience practitioners. provide them with a platform to share learning experiences, interact, make friends and exchange their knowledge on such an unique and facinating Art.

Taiji Enthusiasts of any levels or styles, members of the BCCMA, TCUGB, local clubs or individuals, participant's freinds and families are welcome to join our team.

Participant can either compete in the tournament on hand forms, weapons or/and pushing hands. Enthusiasts and their freinds and family who do not want to compete are also welcome to join us as spectators and supporters to the competitors.

Since we will be going as a team from the UK, a minimum of 10 people is required (with at least 4 people competing).

Itinerary

The festival runs over 5 days between 16th and 21st of Oct. However, there is no direct flights to it, therefore, We have to fly out to Beijing on the 14th arriving on the 15th, stay in Beijing for a night to recoup from the jetlag, then travel on the 16th to Handan. We will return from Handan on the 21st , Stay in Beijing for a night before flying back to the UK on the 22nd.

The trip is in total 9 days from 14th to 22nd including the stopping over in Beijing.

Day 1 - Tues 14th Oct
Departure for Beijing
Day 2 - Wed 15th Oct
Arriving at Beijingin the afternoon, Check into hotel and rest for the day
Day 3 - Thurs 16th Oct
Morning train to Han Dan and Register for the event Free for the day
Day 4 – 7 Friday 17th – Mon 20th Oct
Opening ceremony, competing or spectating.
Visit to historical sites and residence of the Yang Lu Chan and Woo Yu Xiang,
old city wall of Yongnian village and Cong Tai Park to see enthusiasts practise Tai Chi.
Day 8 - Tues 21st Oct
Afternoon train back to Beijing , Check into hotel.
Day 9 - Wed 22nd Oct
Departure for the UK

There is also an opportunity to join our extension trip to see Beijing, the capital of China.

Extension Trip (Beijing 4 days) 22nd - 26th Oct
Extension trip is available for Enthusiast who would like to see the famous attractions in Beijing and immerse into the richness of Chinese culture, the itinerary as follow;

Day 9 - Wed 22nd Oct
Visit The Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City
Day 10 – Thurs 23rd Oct
Visit the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tomb, visit Jade factory to learn how to distinguish real jade from fake ones and how they are made into beautiful jewelleries.
Day 11 – Fri 24th Oct
Visit the Summer Palace – one of the imperial gardens of the emperors, Silk Factory to see how silk is turn farmed and turn into duvets, covers etc.
Day 12 – Sat 25th Oct
Free Activity for the day (Lunch, Dinner and tranports not included). Good for last minute shoping for present and souvenir or visit to other attractions of interest (Lama Temple, Confusicious Temple, Hutong - narrow lanes with over 1000 years of history etc..)
Day 13 – Sun 26th Oct
Depart for the UK

Cost

The itemised cost for the festival and competition is £350.00 not including international flights. The international flight tickets are purchased separately, at the moment it is anticipated to be around £420.00. We will purchase the flight tickets through one of our travel agent or participant can buy their own tickets.

A deposit of £150.00 is required with the booking, the remanider of the fees can be paid by 15th September.

Money for the international tickets will need to be paid as soon as cheap tickets are available, it is normally around July.

Single supplement is £150.00, however, we will try to match people members on the same trip. If for any reason no match can be found, the single supplement will apply.

The cost of the Beijing 4 Days extension trip is £285.00 all inclusive, Single supplement is £90.00 for the 4 days.

To Book

Anyone who is interested in attending the festival, is reuqired to fill in a booking form and send it to us together with a deposit of £150.00 (non refundable after 15th August). Remainder of the fee and fee for the international air tickets need to be paid by the end of August.

People who are plannning to compete in the pushing hands catagory are required to get doctors' notes to certify the participant is fit enough to compete in Pushing hand section and he has no physicla diability, health problem or any illness that could affect them health during the competition.

It is compulsory for all participants to obtain Travel and medical insurance at their own costs.
