Introduction

Building upon the succes of the two previous fesitvals hosted in Zheng Zhou (Shaolin Temple). the 3rd World Traditional Wushu Festival is going to be hosted by the City of Shi Yan where the legendary Wudang mountain is located.

There will be over 3000 thousands Martial arts enthusiasts, experts and masters of various style and discipline of Chinese Kungfu from over 50 countries including the UK (Lead by Master Faye Yip with the appointment of the BCCMA UK in 2006) attending. There will be massive demonstration of Chinese Kungfu, dance performances, exchange sessions and seminars to celebrate this amazing event.

In the previous festivals, thousands of enthusiasts and Kungfu athletes from all over China to participate the mass demonstration, including 10,000 Martial Arts School children demonstration Chinese Kungfu over a stretch of 10 miles leading to the Shaolin Temple. Masters of various styles from all over China attended the event and some conducted seminars and exchanged with enthusiasts from all over the world.

Although this year it has moved to the city of Shi Yan, it is promised to be as good and fantastic if not more exciting than the previous ones.

The festival is accompanied by a Traditional Wudshu forms competition on any traditionals styles, Taiji, Xing Yi, Wing Chun, Lau Gar, Bagua............ competitors can be a senior citizen or a 8 year old beginner. It is going to be a great opportunity to meet friends from simular styles and share knowledge and learning experience. In the last festival, the UK team bring a few medals.

We are planning to organise a team representing the UK again this year to particpate such an amazing events, and bulid friendship with enthusiasts from all over the world.

Who can attend

The aim of the festival and competition is to bring together all Chinese Martial Arts enthusiasts from all over the world, whether they are beginners or experience practitioners, provide them with a platform to share learning experiences, interact, make friends and exchange their knowledge on such an unique and facinating Art.

Chinese Martial Arts Enthusiasts of any ages, gender, levels or styles, their friends and families are welcome to join us attend the festival, Enthusiasts or athletes who are members of the BCCMA are welcome to participate the wushu compeition representing the UK.

Participants can either compete in the tournament on hand forms, weapons or team demonstraiton. Enthusiasts and their freinds and family who do not want to compete are also welcome to join us as spectators and supporters to the competitors.

Since we will be going as a team from the UK, a minimum of 10 people is required.

Itinerary

The festival runs over 6 days between 28th Oct and 2nd Nov. However, there is no direct flights to it, therefore, We have to fly out to Beijing on the 25th arriving on the 26th, stay in Beijing for a night to recoup from the jetlag, then travel on the 27th to Shi Yan City. We will return from Shi Yan city on the 1st , then return to the UK on the 2nd Nov.

The trip is in total 9 days from 25th Oct to 2nd Nov including the stopping over in Beijing.

Day 1 - Sat 25th Oct
Departure for Beijing
Day 2 - Sunday 26th Oct
Arriving at Beijingin the afternoon, Check into hotel and rest for the day
Day 3 - Monday 27th Oct
Afternoon train to Shi Yan / Wudang
Day 4 – 8 Tues 28th – Sat 1st Nov
Opening ceremony, competing or spectating.
Visit to historical site Wudang Mountain etc. and exchange experience with enthusiasts from all over the world.
Day 8 - Sat 1st Nov
Night train back to Beijing.
Day 9 - Sunday 2nd Nov
Departure for the UK

There is also an opportunity to join our extension trip to see Beijing, the capital of China.

Extension Trip (Beijing 4 days) 22nd - 26th Oct
Extension trip is available for Enthusiast who would like to see the famous attractions in Beijing and immerse into the richness of Chinese culture, the itinerary as follow;

Day 9 - Sunday 2nd Nov
Visit the Summer Palace – one of the imperial gardens of the emperors, Silk Factory to see how silk is turn farmed and turn into duvets, covers etc
Day 10 – Monday 3rd Nov
Visit the Great Wall of China and the Ming Tomb, visit Jade factory to learn how to distinguish real jade from fake ones and how they are made into beautiful jewelleries.
Day 11 – Tues 4th Nov
Visit The Temple of Heaven, Tiananmen Square and The Forbidden City
Day 12 – Wed 5th Nov
Free Activity for the day (Lunch, Dinner and tranports not included). Good for last minute shoping for present and souvenir or visit to other attractions of interest (Lama Temple, Confusicious Temple, Hutong - narrow lanes with over 1000 years of history etc..)
Day 13 – Thurs 6th Nov
Depart for the UK

Cost

The cost for the festival and competition is £350.00 not including international flights. The international flight tickets are purchased separately, at the moment it is anticipated to be around £420.00. We will purchase the flight tickets through one of our travel agent or participant can buy their own tickets.

A deposit of £150.00 is required with the booking, the remanider of the fees can be paid by 15th September.

Money for the international tickets will need to be paid as soon as cheap tickets are available, it is normally around July.

Single supplement is £150.00, however, we will try to match people members on the same trip. If for any reason no match can be found, the single supplement will apply.

The cost of the Beijing 4 Days extension trip is £285.00 all inclusive, Single supplement is £90.00 for the 4 days.

To Book

Anyone who is interested in attending the festival, is reuqired to fill in a booking form and send it to us together with a deposit of £150.00 (non refundable after 15th August). Remainder of the fee and fee for the international air tickets need to be paid by the end of August.

People who are plannning to compete in the pushing hands catagory are required to get doctors' notes to certify the participant is fit enough to compete in Pushing hand section and he has no physicla diability, health problem or any illness that could affect them health during the competition.

It is compulsory for all participants to obtain Travel and medical insurance at their own costs.
